David Gatz, DVM
Dr. David Gatz is the proud owner of Broadway Veterinary Clinic, which he opened in 1991.
As a general practitioner, Dr. Gatz knew that he wanted to become a veterinarian from an early age. He wanted to follow in his father and grandfather’s footsteps. They were both veterinarians who passed on their passion for veterinary medicine and their love of caring for animals to him.
As a native of Kansas, Dr. Gatz attended Kansas State University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science in 1980. He then continued on to receive his veterinary education at Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He was awarded his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1984.
As an esteemed veterinarian, Dr. Gatz is involved in many different organizations. He is proud to serve as a board member of the Leavenworth Animal Welfare Society. He is also a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association, and the Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Gatz also has a busy life at home. Dr. Gatz is married to Cindy, the bookkeeper here at Broadway Veterinary Clinic. They are the proud parents of two children, Bethany and Aaron.
Dr. Gatz also has quite a few pets to keep him busy. He has three dogs including a Border Collie Mix named Cheerio, a German Shorthair Pointer named Tucker, and a Hound Mix named Sybill. He has a cat named Pepe Le Pu and several chickens.
In his spare time, Dr. Gatz enjoys reading and playing golf.
Lisa has been our Kennel Manager at Broadway Veterinary Clinic since April of 2010, though she began working in the pet care field in 1998.
She came to our clinic as a longtime client which gave her the unique opportunity to get to know many of our veterinarians and other staff members. “Each and every one of them have the most caring hearts,” she says. “This practice goes above and beyond and has proven time and again that the care your animal will receive is excellent.”
When she is not working, Lisa is very active with Animal Rescue by helping to transport animals to safety. She also provides some with a loving foster home. Her animal family includes Wilson, a Dogue de Bordeaux who was born in October of 2011. However, she still holds a number of pets close to her heart that have passed away. These include Conan, Monty, Branson, Dallas, Phoenix, Shadow, CheyAnne, and Dakota.

Our Bookkeeper, Cindy Gatz has been with Broadway Veterinary Clinic since she purchased the clinic with her husband, Dr. David Gatz in 1991. However, her love of animals started long before that. She helped to care for the animals on her family’s farm by milking cows, feeding and watering the pigs, butchering chickens, and helping to make homemade sausage.
Asked what she enjoys most about her work, she says, “I enjoy the personal relationships we develop with our clients and their pets. Our staff is highly trained, professional and each has a true compassion for animals.”
The Gatz’s pets include a cat named Pepe Le Pu, a German Shorthair named Tucker, and a Hound mix named Sybill. With her free time, she enjoys running, gardening and reading the Bible.
